What this trial studies

This project aims to develop and implement a self-compassion toolkit designed to improve psychological health and well-being in individuals with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). The toolkit includes mindfulness meditation, exercise, journaling, and education on sleep hygiene. Participants will engage in a 4-week program where they will receive weekly follow-ups and complete various assessments to evaluate the impact of the toolkit on their distress, coping, glucose levels, and overall wellness. The study employs a pre-test and post-test design to measure the effectiveness of the intervention.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes who experience moderate distress as indicated by a score above 2 on the T2D Distress Assessment Scale.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have Type 2 Diabetes or those who cannot safely exercise or complete the required tasks may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance emotional well-being and complement existing treatments for Type 2 Diabetes, leading to improved quality of life for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for mindfulness-based interventions in managing psychological distress in patients with Type 2 Diabetes, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
