What this trial studies

The REMINDER4Care program is designed to address dementia risk factors among older adults living in residential and daycare facilities. This tailored, multidomain intervention focuses on enhancing social and cognitive engagement to improve cognitive health and reduce the risk of dementia. The program is based on the successful REMINDER protocol and aims to adapt its strategies to meet the unique needs of older adults in these settings. The efficacy of the program will be evaluated through a structured assessment of its impact on participants' cognitive function and overall well-being.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this program are older adults aged 65 and above who reside in residential and daycare facilities and possess basic reading and writing skills.

Not a fit: Patients with a clinical diagnosis of dementia or significant cognitive impairments, as well as those with long-term psychiatric or neurological conditions, may not benefit from this program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly lower the incidence of dementia among older adults in care facilities.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies, such as the FINGER trial, have shown success with similar multidomain interventions aimed at reducing dementia risk, indicating a promising approach.
