What this trial studies
This study aims to recruit 60 young individuals identified as being at clinical high risk for developing psychosis. Participants will receive a range of psychological interventions, starting with the least intensive treatments and progressing to more intensive options if necessary. The study will assess the effectiveness of these interventions over 18 months, focusing on symptom improvement and social functioning. The goal is to determine the best approach for offering treatment to this vulnerable population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are young individuals who meet the SIPS criteria for clinical high risk for psychosis.
Not a fit: Patients with any current or past axis I psychotic disorder or significant central nervous system disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more effective and tailored treatments for young people at risk of psychosis, potentially preventing the onset of full-blown psychotic disorders.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using stepped care approaches for mental health interventions, suggesting potential success for this method.
