What this trial studies

This study aims to pilot an adapted resiliency-based mind-body intervention, known as the Relaxation Response Resiliency Program (3RP), specifically designed for nurses providing care to people with HIV in South Africa. The intervention has been refined based on feedback from focus groups that explored nurses' experiences with stress and their preferences for coping strategies. The study will involve a small proof-of-concept phase followed by a randomized pilot involving 60 nurses to assess the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention. Additionally, the study will collect data on client demographics and satisfaction to evaluate the impact of the intervention on patient care outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are nurses who have been providing primary HIV care in public sector clinics for at least one year and are fluent in IsiZulu or English.

Not a fit: Patients who have participated in cognitive behavioral therapy or a mind-body intervention in the past year may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce stress and burnout among healthcare workers, leading to improved patient care for individuals living with HIV.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar resiliency and stress management interventions, indicating potential for positive outcomes in this context.
