What this trial studies

This clinical trial evaluates the Adolescent Enhanced Assess, Acknowledge, Act (A-EAAA) program, an adaptation of a successful sexual assault resistance program for university students, aimed at reducing sexual violence victimization among girls aged 14-18 who have not graduated high school. The study will randomly assign participants to receive the A-EAAA program immediately or usual care followed by the program after six months. The effectiveness of the intervention will be assessed through follow-ups at six months and one year to determine its impact on reducing incidents of sexual violence. The trial addresses a critical gap in existing prevention programs tailored for adolescents.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are self-identified girls aged 14 to 18 years who have not graduated high school and are proficient in English.

Not a fit: Patients who have already graduated high school or are outside the age range of 14 to 18 years may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce the incidence of sexual violence among adolescent girls, leading to improved mental and physical health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success with similar sexual assault resistance programs, particularly the original EAAA program for university students, which reduced rape attempts by 50%.
