What this trial studies
The GEROS Project aims to create a Service-Learning program that combines Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) and health promotion for older adults aged 60 and above. University students from various health disciplines will engage with these older adults in a participatory approach, conducting assessments to evaluate frailty, intrinsic capacity, and quality of life. This initiative fosters intergenerational learning and community involvement, allowing students to apply their knowledge while benefiting the health of older participants. The study employs a non-experimental mixed-method design to gather insights from both students and older adults.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this program are older adults aged 60 and above who can travel independently or with assistance.
Not a fit: Patients who are institutionalized in long-term care facilities will not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could enhance the health and well-being of older adults through tailored assessments and health education.
How similar studies have performed: While similar intergenerational programs have shown promise, this specific approach integrating CGA and health promotion is relatively novel.
