What this trial studies
This project aims to develop and implement OurChild, a mobile health and electronic health record solution designed to enhance access to early childhood mental health resources for Chinese American families in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The study will involve collaboration with families and community stakeholders to identify needs and create a digital library of mental health resources. A pilot program will assess the usability of the platform with a small group of parents and children, followed by a larger implementation study to evaluate its effectiveness and adoption among 120 parent-child dyads. The goal is to address health disparities in mental health access for this community.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include Chinese American children aged 2-6 years who have been receiving care at the 7th Avenue Family Health Center and their parents.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have access to a smartphone or are siblings/parents of previously enrolled children may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly improve early childhood mental health outcomes for Chinese American families by providing tailored resources and support.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using digital health solutions to address health disparities is gaining traction, this specific implementation for Chinese American families is relatively novel.
