8-week turmeric beverage for healthy older adults
Exploring the Effects of an 8-week Turmeric Supplementation on Aspects of Physiology and Wellbeing in Healthy Older Adults

What this trial studies
Healthy older adults will be enrolled and asked to consume a raw turmeric shot or a matched placebo twice daily for 8 weeks. The study compares changes in physiological markers (such as inflammation and antioxidant-related measures) and self-reported wellbeing between the turmeric and placebo groups. Participants must meet BMI criteria and have no major chronic diseases or recent regular turmeric use to reduce confounding. Outcomes will focus on whether whole-turmeric consumption produces measurable health or quality-of-life benefits in a broadly healthy older population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Healthy older adults with a BMI between 18.5 and 39.9 who do not have cardiovascular disease, diabetes, major organ disease, osteoporosis, dementia, cancer, are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and are not regular turmeric users are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People with the listed exclusion conditions, allergies to study ingredients, on medications or supplements that interact with turmeric, pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, or recent regular turmeric users are unlikely to benefit or be eligible.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, regular twice-daily turmeric beverage intake could modestly improve inflammation‑related and antioxidant markers and enhance self-reported wellbeing in older adults.
How similar studies have performed: Trials of isolated curcumin have shown anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and some quality-of-life improvements in people with specific conditions, but whole-turmeric beverage interventions in broadly healthy older adults are less well studied.
