What this research studies

This research focuses on establishing a diverse group of individuals who volunteer to help advance knowledge about brain aging and dementia, particularly Alzheimer's Disease and related conditions. Participants will undergo extensive characterization and follow-up assessments, including neuroimaging and tissue donation, to contribute to various research projects. The study aims to explore factors that promote resilience against cognitive decline and investigate the biological diversity of Alzheimer's disease. By shifting the focus to earlier stages of the disease, the research seeks to inform prevention strategies and improve understanding of cognitive aging.

Who could benefit from this research

Good fit: Ideal candidates for participation include individuals with a family history of Alzheimer's, those experiencing early cognitive changes, or healthy older adults interested in contributing to dementia research.

Not a fit: Patients with advanced Alzheimer's disease or those who are not able to participate in longitudinal studies may not benefit from this research.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to improved prevention strategies and treatments for Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias.

How similar studies have performed: Previous research has shown success in understanding cognitive aging and dementia through participant cohorts, indicating that this approach is both valuable and tested.
