Osteoarthritis Knowledge Hub (OAI CORE)
The OAI Collaborative Osteoarthritis Research Enterprise (OAI CORE) Knowledgebase
This project will build an online hub that organizes 16 years of knee osteoarthritis clinical data, images, genetics, and biospecimens to help researchers studying people with or at risk for knee osteoarthritis.

What this research studies
If you have or are at risk for knee osteoarthritis, this project will gather and link the Osteoarthritis Initiative’s 16-year collection of clinical records, medical images, genetic data, and stored samples from nearly 4,800 participants. The team will create a searchable, well-annotated knowledgebase and user-friendly tools so researchers can find and combine relevant datasets more easily. They will apply trustworthy governance and good data practices to keep the resource reliable and usable over time. The hub is designed to raise awareness of OAI data and support collaborations that speed new discoveries.
Who could benefit from this research
Good fit: Ideal candidates are people with knee osteoarthritis or those at increased risk for knee OA who may want their data or samples used in related research or be considered for future trials.
Not a fit: People without knee osteoarthritis or whose health issues are unrelated to OA are unlikely to receive direct benefit from this specific resource.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the knowledgebase could speed research that leads to better ways to diagnose, prevent, or treat knee osteoarthritis.
How similar studies have performed: Similar disease-focused data hubs such as the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) have successfully accelerated research, supporting the value of this approach.
