Investigating heart health in women after pregnancy
Continuation of the NuMoM2b Heart Health Study
This study is looking at how having complications during pregnancy can impact heart health in women, and it’s for those who have recently had their first baby; by checking in with you regularly and collecting some health information, we hope to learn more about heart disease risks and find better ways to keep women’s hearts healthy.

What this research studies
This research follows a diverse group of women who experienced their first pregnancy to understand how adverse pregnancy outcomes affect heart health. By collecting data and biological samples over several years, the study aims to identify risk factors for cardiovascular disease in women. Participants will have semiannual check-ins and in-person visits to monitor their cardiovascular health. The research seeks to fill critical gaps in knowledge about women's heart health and develop better prevention strategies.
Who could benefit from this research
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women who have recently experienced their first pregnancy and are willing to participate in long-term health monitoring.
Not a fit: Patients who are not women or those who have not had a recent pregnancy may not benefit from this research.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to improved cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment strategies specifically tailored for women.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success in understanding cardiovascular risks in women, making this research a continuation of promising findings.
