What this research studies

Many people in rural northern New England with Long COVID, also known as post-acute COVID syndrome (PACS), face challenges getting comprehensive care and reliable information due to fewer medical services. This initiative aims to bridge that gap by developing useful and relatable health information specifically for these patients and their providers. Working with rural and biomedical libraries, the team will create resources to help manage the complex nature of Long COVID. This work builds upon the established Dartmouth-Hitchcock PACS Clinic, which already serves many patients in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Who could benefit from this research

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals living with Long COVID in rural areas of northern New England, particularly those who have difficulty accessing reliable health information or local medical services.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have Long COVID or who reside outside of rural northern New England may not directly benefit from the specific resources developed by this project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this work could significantly improve access to vital health information and support for Long COVID patients in underserved rural communities, helping them better manage their condition and find local services.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific combination of health literacy and rural Long COVID care is unique, similar efforts to improve health information access have shown success in other chronic conditions.
