What this research studies

This research focuses on enhancing diabetes management for Latino adults by implementing a patient-centered, team-based care approach. Participants will be randomly assigned to either standard care or a special intervention that includes personalized care coordination, behavioral health support, and culturally tailored resources. The goal is to improve adherence to diabetes treatment and overall health outcomes through integrated medical and behavioral care. The study will involve 400 Latino adults with poorly controlled diabetes from a large health center in San Diego.

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this research are Latino adults aged 21 and older who have poorly controlled diabetes.

Not a fit: Patients who do not identify as Latino or those with well-managed diabetes may not benefit from this research.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to better diabetes management and improved health outcomes for Latino patients.
