What this research studies

We are working with rural primary care clinics to make a web-based tool called My Own Health Report (MOHR) more accessible and effective for patients. MOHR helps you identify health risks, set personal goals for improving your health, and find local resources to support those goals. Our previous work showed that MOHR helped people improve their diet and physical activity, which are important for preventing cancer. This project aims to make MOHR easier for clinics to use and to add structured follow-up to ensure patients get the support they need to reach their health goals and reduce their cancer risk.

Who could benefit from this research

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 21 and older who receive care at rural primary care clinics and are interested in addressing behavioral risks for cancer or unmet social needs.

Not a fit: Patients who are not interested in using a web-based tool or making behavioral changes to prevent cancer may not receive direct benefit from this specific program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could help patients in rural areas reduce their risk for various cancers by making it easier to adopt healthier behaviors and access supportive resources.

How similar studies have performed: Prior trials of My Own Health Report (MOHR) have shown improvements in physical activity and diet behaviors, which are known to reduce cancer risk.
