What this research studies
If you are a woman living with HIV in Nigeria, this project brings cervical cancer screening and immediate treatment into the HIV clinic you already visit. The team builds on a pilot that showed this approach can work and works with PEPFAR-supported clinics to adapt procedures for local needs. They will test practical ways to increase use, improve follow-up, and keep services running over time. The project will track who is reached, who gets treated, and what barriers must be fixed to expand the program.
Who could benefit from this research
Good fit: Adult women living with HIV who receive care at participating HIV clinics in Nigeria are the ideal candidates.
Not a fit: Women not receiving care at the participating clinics, those living far from program sites, or those already with advanced cervical cancer may not receive direct benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this could help detect and treat precancerous changes earlier in women with HIV, reducing cervical cancer deaths.
How similar studies have performed: A prior Nigerian pilot showed the integrated screen-and-treat approach is feasible, but broader, tailored implementation has not yet been proven at scale.
